About the Project

Drawing from their shared personal histories in Los Angeles and exploring points of cultural and creative intersection, taiko ensemble TAIKOPROJECT and Chican@ rock/folk band Quetzal are developing Concrete Saplings, a full-length concert production with multi-media projection and storytelling.

TAIKOPROJECT and Quetzal will explore commonalities between their respective cultural communities in Los Angeles and contemplate their parallel roles as musical tradition bearers committed to maintaining and redefining traditional music for a new multi-ethnic generation.
